On White Papers and the Environment

You know,  I personally find white papers very useful, but very long-winded.  For instance, the Health Reform white paper is 98 pages long!  Depending on how often it’s printed (which is most likely A LOT), that’s an enormous amount of wasted paper!  I’m hoping most people just view it online, but somehow I doubt it.  They probably stick to our paper-wasting traditions and print them out.

However, enough rambling.  In agreement with a few of the other posts on here, white papers do sound like persuasive essays/papers.  I thought they would be more scientific/mathematical, but the general gist I got from skimming a few was that they’re merely trying to get people to agree with their point of view.  I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because they’re the products of think-tanks, but ah well.  I just thought because it was established by a group of intellectuals it had to be difficult to comprehend…but then again, the think-tanks obviously want support from their audiences, so I guess they just cater to them.

Oh, and another thing.  Did you know that a river in the ’50′s was so polluted that it actually caught on fire (MORE THAN ONCE)?  And that a huge section of beach and ocean in Mexico constantly gets flooded with sewage water?  Yaaay for random environmental facts of the day, lol.

Also, I found some information on green papers?  I guess they come before white papers, but I’m not exactly sure what they are…Maybe if I wasn’t so lazy I’d look it up, haha.
