We had a very in depth discussion of this article already so this may seem very repetitive because it is. The article grabs attention of the reader with its collection of several short articles that are all slightly connected due to their affiliation with blogging. The author(s) then go on to introduce the specific topic of the essay: blogging is creating a massive social trend of blurring the once rigid lines and shortening the length of the spectrum between public and private information.
The essay relies upon reference to historical instances, gathered demographical statistics, and relative literary works. In my opinion, the essay seems to be portraying blogging as a useful tool or advocate in a much bigger social trend: the traditional belief of separating your private/personal life and your public life is fading; it has become more and more common for a person to be more open in a public arena. (ex. modern television content would make grandma turn over in her grave, yet it is for the most part something that is completely accepted by the standards of our society).

I havent read this article so I don’t know much about it in depth but I would definitely have to agree with their thoughts on public information becoming more popular in society today. The current society no longer keeps their personal life personal; facebook, blogs, myspace, webshots, twitter, etc. are all extremely popular tools used by the current public. Almost everyone in society (in the current generation) is putting themselves out in the open, not only physically in pictures but also internally by putting their individual and very personal feelings and emotions out for others to read. It is so easy in today’s world to go on the internet and find out almost everything about a person. This can have its benefits in the way that everyone in society is more connected, but I also think having some aspects of your life kept private is a definite necessity.
