The subject of race being related to the profession of maid services. I feel that this is exploited in the media. If you take the movie “Main In Manhattan” for example, each main character maid in that movie is of a minority. In the movie they exploit that fact as they talk about somone of thier class and race getting ahead in the world of maids. I’m not exactly sure how this compares with the reading but I just feel that the media takes hold of this certain image of a maid and blows it out of proportion. My aunt is a maid and she is neither a minority or lower class, she just wanted a job, and loves to clean.

I agree. The image we have stereotyped of a maid is a latino immigrant who is barely understandable. We poke fun at this stereotype and use it to make fun of these types of people. We not only do it to maids but those that pump our gas, and tech support. We classify all these people as belonging to a certain ethnic group, with not learning proper english, and with doing dirty jobs for low wages. Obviously these ethnic stereotypes are unfair an uncalled for, but sadly enough, sometimes they are true.
