The Globetrotting Walt Disney Coca Cola

First, I’d liek to comment that I like that we read something that appealed to each of the appeals, The Globetrotting sneaker working on logos, walt disney appealing to pathos, and then the last poem working more off the authors ethos. Clever textbook makers.

I thought that The Globetrotting Sneaker was very boring and not persuasive at all, as it seemed to be written in a more informative stance, which is still effectve but as we all know, an appeal to pathos is more important than an appeal to logos.

An appeal to Walt Disney was well done, but I felt that it could have been shorter, or used more personal stories to bring home to point more. The exact numbers were a nice addition, as it added some logos to the main pathos of the argument, but I felt that there was too many numbers, and they got all cluttered and don’t leave you with anything concrete that you remember, as you were constantly assaulted by numbers and fractions.

the poem Coca Cola and Coco Frio was my favorite piece we had to read. Not only does is show that brand names sell, it also showed the consumerism destroys culture. Coco Frio is a native drink, yet people give it up in favour of the ‘cool’ looking Coca Cola, its very sad.
