what’s up with class this week

Hey Honors Compers,

OK…I’ve spoken to Dr. Chernekoff, and, yes, there WILL be class this week!  Thrilled?  I wanted to give you a little update on where we are and what we will be doing.

1) I just got word that Amy Lynch-Biniek, the Director of the Writing Center and all-around awesome person, will be covering our class tomorrow and Thursday.  Please, make her feel welcome…You’ll love her.  And, she likes coffee.  I mean, like, she reeeeaaalllllyyyyyy likes coffee.

2) Don’t worry about Paper #2.  We’ll deal with that when I get back next week.

3) Follow the syllabus.  We are beginning a new unit this week (as you know).  Tomorrow is the intro to Chapter 6, “Consumer Gazes.”  It’s only about 10 pages of reading…but it asks you to put on your critical lenses and “read” consumer culture through some of the rhetorical concepts we’ve already discussed.  So, come prepared to show Amy Lynch-Biniek what our Honors Comp class is made of!

4) Please post brief responses to the blog on the readings for tomorrow and Thursday.  That way, I can respond and feel like I’m there too!
